Based in the village community of Whitbourne, Whitbourne Mugworks aka simply "Mugworks", is a typical small business specialising in the supply of personalised hand printed mugs.
There are no set working hours other than all day and all night and where most of the time you will reach a human being if you telephone or email (a rarer thing these days!)
Keith Butler has run the business since 2008 (with help from his accountant wife Lynn) and Mugworks is one of the only companies we could find that still supplies printed enamel mugs from the UK (the plain enamel mugs are manufactured in the Far East before being brought for printing back to the UK - fun fact, there are no enamel manufacturing plants left in England!). Compared to other operations, this gives Mugworks a superior quality finish, producing beautiful printed enamel mugs at their factory.
Like our beautiful village, Mugworks operates from the countryside and is fully connected to this way of life. They don't overplay it, but are as eco friendly as possible, making as little harmful impact on the environment as they possibly can. They believe our world is important to us, so recycle (including re-using the packaging that your mugs are delivered to them in, to send on to yourselves, where possible), try to work as paper free as possible and indeed try to be a fuel efficient business. They recycle water and avoid chemical pollution (including printing inks) into the drains. They also have a fairly old fashioned approach to business that seems to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the modern City - and yet are fully up to date in operations, reflected in their use of IT and printing processes.
All things considered, we feel that they are a great choice to partner with Faye and the Terling Business Hub to produce our first piece of village merchandise.
